Position Summary

The Project Engineer, Power Solutions is responsible for the deign and construction management of CNG compression facilities.  This position will manage all aspects (mechanical, electrical, & civil) of projects for Power Solutions facilities and compressor stations. The incumbent will be responsible for development in all stages of engineering projects from concept through full commercialization including construction and sustaining

Key Accountabilities
  • Plans, directs and manages all aspects of engineering, manufacturing and support activities for custom CNG compression facilites.
  • Implements and achieves objectives and initiatives. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with established policies and objectives.
  • Design and own detail of compression facilities.
  • Project manage construction, sub-contractors and engineering third parties.
  • Manage custom designs related to the facility.
  • Research and execution of any related permits.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities related to the facility construction.
  • Keep aprised of new CNG technologies and strategies, as well as develop or possess in depth knowledge of CNG operations.
  • Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
  • Determines project schedule by studying the project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements. Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
  • Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and schedule changes; recommending actions.
  • Controls project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts. Assists senior management in meeting financial objectives by assisting in: forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; and analyzing variances;
  • Contributes to the team effort by providing technical solutions, accomplishing tasks and providing related results as needed.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Champions the NexTier safety culture.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Able to function in a hands on work environment.  Ability to take on other engineering projects as needed.
  • Strong electro-mechanical background and design skills with strong background in innovation and broad experience in the design and managing facility projects $500K-$1M.
  • Interest in design and construction of compressor facilities with ability to function with autonomy.
  • Knowledge of piping design, ASME B31.3, controls and electrical.
  • Ability to evaluate and manage projects including Requirements Analysis, Project Management, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures.
  • General project management skills including Process Improvement, Documentation Skills, Safety Management, Supervision, Developing & Tracking Budgets, Coaching, Supervision, Staffing, Project Management, Management Proficiency, Self-Development, Planning, Performance Management, Inventory Control,
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
Required Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • More than 10 years of relevant experience preferred
